Introduction.

Viafoura powers engaging communities for over 600 media brands around the world

As media brands evolve in the post-app economy, their digital transformation leaders start looking towards reclaiming their audiences from the closed app store ecosystems and third-party products as they aim to drive subscription revenue.

With over 350 million active users across 600+ media brands, the challenge was to create a design system that would be inviting and simple to encourage casual readers to write their first comment and be robust enough for the existing community.

Design system.

When you need a consistent experience across a suite of products served over ten billion times per month, you need a plan. A scalable plan.

When we started working with Viafoura, they were planning to phase out their “legacy” platform - the original MVP of their engagement suite that evolved organically over the years as the company grew.

The first thing we did when Propel partnered up with Viafoura was to make an inventory of all user-facing products and identify all reusable components, which became the foundation of the atomic design system.

The result.

The design system allowed us to quickly scale the experience across multiple engagement products including notification tray, conversations, live blogging, community chat, and ratings and reviews.

Conversations.

Real-time conversations enable audiences to upload content, like, reply, follow or share and opt in to be notified as it happens.

Live blogs.

Live blog let you publish a live stream of content directly on site with the option to include external links and embed social posts with ease.

Live chat.

Live chat lets publishers drive safe, moderated, real-time conversations around live Q&A, broadcast videos or live events.

Ratings & reviews.

Using a five-star rating system and real-time reviews, Ratings and reviews product lets users react to the experiences, places and products they encounter.
